John Kiriakou is a former CIA analyst and whistleblower. He worked for the agency from 1990 to 2004, including as chief of counterterrorist operations in Pakistan. In an interview in 2009, he became the first former government official to confirm the use of waterboarding against al-Qaida suspects. From 2009 to 2011, John was a senior investigator for the US Senate foreign relations committee. In 2012, he was charged with leaking classified information to journalists; he is currently serving a 30-month prison sentence in Loretto, Pennsylvania

Помню, лет 10 назад я там читал мемуар препода, который в годы проклятого тетчеризма страдал от пьянства. Так сказать, в знак протеста. Очень было душевно, ни грамма самоиронии, на наши деньги хипстер страдает от путинского режима. Я плевался.
Ещё меня Гардиан бесила традиционной левацкой тематикой, негров и гомосексуалистов обижают и всё такое.
Но с возрастом я понял, что всё правильно, и препод-алкоголик мне стал ближе проклятого тетчеризма. Т.е. газета где-то даже борется за мои права.
Потом, поскольку газета интеллектуальная, там пишут много разного и интересного. Негров и гомосексуалистов можно отфильтровывать и читать всякую конспирологию. Тут я читал одного автора, и радовался, что прямо мыслители древности пикитан-и-шлёнский. Гардиан я тогда не читал, но думал в правильном направлении :-)

Очень важно при этом помнить, что у Гардиан такой характерный bias антиамериканский. Типа, в Америке Джордж Буш, Гуантанамо, нефтяные компании и внешний долг, и через всё это она помрёт, если уже не померла. Думаю, частью это просто депрессивная пропаганда для американской аудитории.
